Howto host an installfest

<B>Howto host an installfest</B> We need to set up some rules for installfests. Below are what I can remember from working with them on the left coast: Personnel: 1) One person in charge. 2) One person designated at the technical coordinator (1 and 2 can be same person) 3) One person to man the door to make sure everyone signs a waiver. (this MUST be different than either 1 or 2 above)

Switching users with su

<b>Switching users with su</b> I have this here because most people use the su utility incorrectly. The su utility can be used to switch users to root (by default) or another user. Most people can figure that part out. What they tend to forget is the little dash (-) that should be there. The dash (-) says to read the configuration files for that user and replace what was previously there for this instance. If the dash is not there, then the environment variables remain the same as the user before the su is invoked and the others are added on top.

<b>Adding user's quotas in bulk with bash</b> There is no way to set a "default" quata per se. what you have to do is set up one, and then copy its settings to the others.
