“TERRORISM” is not a member of a group specified for any attribute
So, I’ve been working on this CSS stuff… so I thought I would do some validation checking against validator.w3.org…
Out of curiosity, I checked the “Depart of Defense” site… by using the following url: http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.defenselink.mil%2F
The 15th entry was either funny or scarry… I’m not sure which…
Line 205, column 100: “TERRORISM” is not a member of a group specified for any attribute

Well, I voted
I arrived at the polls at 6:10. Finally got to vote at 6:30. Yes, that is a.m. Voting sucks. You stand in line, you do your "civic duty" to try to elect some incompetent FUD'er from beating some other incompetent FUD'er to a particular office. And, in many of the local races, you didn't get a choice. Only one candidate ran for several positions.
Kentucky has <a href="http://www.kysos.com/intranet/election.asp">http://www.kysos.com/intranet/election.asp </a>which is where you can go to see who is running for what. Of course, you have to know what district, division, or whatever you are in or you waste valuable time learning about what people stand for that you may never get to vote for.
If you haven't voted, go do it... choose whichever evil is lesser for you, pray that God's desires would be fulfilled, and go and have some chocolate!

Homeland Security Tyranny
I've been thinking off and on about all the "homeland security" stuff going on. I remember Bacchus talking about the possibility of seeing if a particular book being visible would get him stopped at the airport. I remember <a href="http://drbacchus.com/wordpress/index.php?p=743">hearing </a>about people being denied entry because of their <a href="http://drbacchus.com/wordpress/index.php?p=746">religion</a>, their <a
http://drbacchus.com/wordpress/index.php?p=702> name</a>, etc.. I remember hearing that we are at war. I remember hearing that this is an evil we must fight.
However, I'm concerned.
Where are the Peacemakers? All I see is tyranny, tyranny, tyranny... A quote from C.S. Lewis if I may:
"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. "
Elections are coming up on Tuesday. I wonder if any non-tyrants are running. I don't think so. All I see is...
"Don't vote for him he doesn't think they way WE do"
"Don't vote for him, he's for Civil Unions"
"Don't vote for him, he's against guns"
"Don't vote for him, we called him Loony, and you believe us that he is!"
"Don't vote for him, he's successful!"
"Don't vote for him, he's rich"
"Don't vote for him, he looks like Sadaam's son"
"Don't vote for him, he's out of touch with his neighbors"
"Don't vote for him, he's old."
"Don't vote for him, he follows the party line."
"Don't vote for him, he can't win anyway."
"Don't vote for him, insert fear, uncertainty, and doubt here"
Why must we perpetuate a system where one person wins by assurig that everyone else loses? Why must we perpetuate a system where it is okay to just be mean? Why must we perpetuate a system where deviant behavior must be accepted as "okay" or "normal"? Why must we perpetuate a system where its okay to show nood breasts at 3:00 p.m. on public television on a Saturday?
Why must I hate this society so much and yet feel so powerless to change it?
But I'm not bitter. I do feel tormented. I do seek refuge in something *else*.
Enough of my soap box...
Good day...

Saturday, June 5, 2004 through Friday, June 11, 2004
These days changed my life. I don't know what that change will look like, but I know that it did. Time will tell how. Here are a few things I remember...
I watched T.V. more than week than any week this year and probably more than I have in many years. I watched the ceremony surrounding this event. I listened to the words of strong and powerful leaders and his children as they described this man known as Ronald Wilson Reagan.
Specifically, I heard eulogies by the Lady Margret Thatcher, Former Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney, Former President and Reagan's Vice President, George H. W. Bush, and the current President George W. Bush. Then, I heard the eulogies of his children, Michael Reagan, Patti Davis, and Ronald Prescott Reagan.
In a <a href="http://david.dpitts.com/archives/000088.html">former entry</a>, I pointed out the impressive showing that was given. In that entry, I showed a picture from the Ronald Reagan memorial web site that showed the current President Bush, his wife Laura, Vice President Cheney and his wife, former presidents Clinton, Bush, Carter and Ford along with their wives.
Former Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev sat alongside former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. That one seemed beyond real.
Former President, George H. W. Bush said about his time while serving as Vice President under Former President Reagan, "I learned kindness; we all did. I also learned courage; the nation did."
The current President praised Reagan as a man of strong convictions and endless optimism. "He believed the gentleman always does the kindest thing," Bush said.
"He believed people were basically good and had the right to be free. He believed that bigotry and prejudice were the worst things that a person could be guilty of. ... He believed America was not just a place in the world, but the hope of the world."
President George W. Bush on Sunday ordered flags lowered to half-staff for 30 days in honor of Reagan.

Goodbye Mr. President, and thank you!
My plan is to have a series of logs about what I consider one of the most historical events in recent times within the United States. Certainly, nothing is as impressive as this picture, which is part of a series of pictures at the Ronald Reagan memorial web site.<p>
